Stinktopus [Dec. 31st, 2008|11:46 am]
Edward J Grug III

Summer has started turning nasty here. It's making me a bit miserable.

This room (the study)m is the hottest in the house, so I am getting pretty behind in my LJing too. Sorry about that!

I hear ya! It's 35 degrees here and all I want to do is stay very still.

Octopodes give everyone the stinkeye. They're ornery critters. The only octopus I know who didn't give someone the stinkeye lived at the National Zoo in Washington and that was only because the person involved was bringing food. The octopus did a funky little maneuver where it curled up its legs and exposed its underside, which the feeder said was its "sit up and beg" position. Like a doggie!

When we went to the WA aquarium recently, the octopus got up and went crazy! It was all over the front glass, like it was dancing!

Jess got a bunch of photos, but I don't think she's uploaded them yet.

Haha, I believe he was a "gloomy octopus." AKA a "common Sydney octopus." (Despite the name they are common here too)

I managed to avoid summer entirely one year by moving to Australia at the end of June and coming back at the beginning of November. It was awesome!
